Jens Lehmann says English referees have been harsher on Arsenal than any other side this season and admits the club has fallen short of expectations on the domestic front. A number of contentious penalty calls against the Gunners have played a role in poor results in recent weeks, including the exit to Nottingham Forest in […]

Krystian Bielik could be on his way back to his former club, Legia Warsaw, on loan as the Polish defender slips further down the pecking order and further away from a first team chance at Arsenal. Then then 17 year old joined the Gunners for a fee of £2m from the Polish side in January […]

It’s being reported that Arsenal have offered Jack Wilshere a new contract, but the structure of the deal is such that the midfielder will see his basic salary reduced, with a number of incentives built in. With question marks over his fitness, the club have offered him a smaller weekly wage than he currently earns, […]

Graham Dougan was a youth prospect at Arsenal in the 1970s but never quite made the grade, making his career in the upper echelons of the old division two. He was also a Scottish U25 international. He is a regular pundit on TV in Malta and Luxembourg, and an after-dinner speaker of some repute. He’ll […]

Mike Dean’s report into the incident which saw Arsene Wenger banned for three games for his behaviour has been released, and he details the confrontation with the Arsenal in the referee’s room after the 1-1 draw with West Brom. The official awarded the home side a late penalty for a handball which he later admitted […]

• Arsenal manager accused official of ‘not being honest’• Referee gave Albion controversial spot-kick in New Year’s Eve draw

Arsène Wenger accused the referee Mike Dean of not being honest and branded him a “disgrace” in a heated exchange following December’s 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.

The Football Association has published its reasons for Wenger’s three-game touchline suspension and it shines a spotlight on the manager’s unhappiness following the New Year’s Eve clash. Wenger was furious after Dean awarded West Brom a late penalty when Calum Chambers was adjudged to have handled Kieran Gibbs’s cross late on and Jay Rodriguez dispatched the equaliser.

Striker suspended by Borussia Dortmund for the third time has a deteriorating relationship with the German press

Even a decade after he left to join Milan as a 17-year-old apprentice, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still regards the picturesque medi town of Laval in western France as his home. Last summer the Borussia Dortmund forward, who could replace Alexis Sánchez at Arsenal, had just beaten Robert Lewandowski to finish as the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 31 goals when he was spotted wearing a shirt he had exchanged with Antoine Griezmann as he played a game of five-a-side with his friends in the Park de Saint-Berthevin.

“It allows me to maintain my shape,” he explained. “Every time I leave Laval, I feel really good, my body is rested. I’m going back to Dortmund full of energy.”

• Mourinho admits: ‘Most probably other big clubs are interested’• Chelsea wait in wings after Manchester City step back from bidding

José Mourinho believes “other big clubs” are interested in the Arsenal forward, Alexis Sánchez, despite Manchester City appearing to clear the way for Manchester United to secure the Chile forward citing the escalating costs of any deal.

City have stepped back from the bidding, for now at least, for a player they had originally hoped to secure for around £20m in January. They suspect Chelsea, rival suitors last summer, have expressed late interest in Sánchez, despite the fact the Premier League champions would have to offer wages virtually double those paid to Eden Hazard to meet the Arsenal player’s salary demands. There has been no formal contact between the two London clubs.
