David Luiz bids emotional farewell to Arsenal teammates, reveals future plans

The defender will part ways with the Gunners soon.

He says he tried his best to build harmony in the dressing room.David will play for a few more years and will become a coach after retirement.

He tells his teammates to enjoy football and make every moment count because a career in the game is extremely short.

David Luiz is going to leave Arsenal after the end of the season. And he almost broke down in tears during his farewell speech, which you can read in full below.

“As always my intention to give the best to give you guys, to help you. I think you understood a bit I’m a quality person so my happiness is to see the others happy.

“I tried my best. Thank you so much.

“I hope to see you soon guys, I’m gonna play for a few more years and soon I’ll be a coach.

“So maybe some of you will be my players. I don’t see a lot of quality over here (laughs)

“For sure, it was great. It’s never easy when you finish a cycle, but it’s always great.

“I just want you to enjoy football because it goes quickly. The other day I was the youngest in the changing room, now I am the oldest.

“Let’s play football, enjoy this moment of our lives, and where you are gonna finish, and try to finish on high levels. Enjoy your moments together.”

David Luiz joined the club in 2019 from Chelsea. He has made 73 appearances for the Gunners, playing an important part in the FA Cup and the Community Shield wins.

The Brazilian trained with the team yesterday so there is a chance he features in today’s game against Brighton and gets a proper send-off from the Emirates crowd.
