Former Gunner hits 26 goal contributions in 22 with weak-foot panenka penalty

Santi Cazorla provided his 26th goal contribution of the Qatari Stars season over the weekend with a weak-foot panenka penalty.

There’s no denying that Santi Cazorla is proving a huge success since his move to Qatar. He’s already won the Qatari Stars Cup with his new side Al-Sadd SC, and they’ve also secured the Qatar Stars League title, despite having a couple of games to go.

In their latest 2-0 win, Cazorla provided both a goal and an assist, to take him to 26 goal contributions in 22 games between the two competitions. His latest goal was a bit cheeky, as he stepped up to chip a penalty into the net with his weaker left foot.

Cazorla moved to Al-Sadd in the summer, signing off from Villarreal with an assist. He joined to play under current manager and former Barcelona star Xavi, who made the same switch from Spain to Qatar in 2015.

It’s no real surprise Cazorla is performing so well, as a former Premier League and La Liga star. Still, not everyone who has made a similar switch has been quite so dominant, particularly at the former Gunner’s age with his injury history.

The 36-year-old will hope to end the league campaign with more goals and assists before the AFC Champions League group stage gets underway later in the month.
