Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a comfortable 3-0 victory against hopeless Arsenal. Diogo Jota scored a spectacular brace after coming on for Andrew Roberston in the second half and Mohamed Salah got his name on the scoresheet by slotting the ball through Leno’s legs from close range.
Here are the painful Gunnertalk ratings for our team:
Bernd Leno – 4.5
The German shot-stopper was at fault for 2 of the goals and his distribution was not very good.
Calum Chambers – 4.8
He was picked ahead of 2 established fullbacks but failed to justify his manager’s decision to start the game with an average display at best.
Rob Holding – 4.1
The Englishman put up an awful performance and was got beaten by one of the shortest man on the pitch for an header for their goal. Gabriel had to cover for his mistakes on several occasions.
Gabriel – 6.3
The Brazilian defender was having a very good game until he committed two careless mistakes late in the game, which ended up costing us. Concentration issues..
Kieran Tierney – 6.4
The Scottish left-back solid defensively throughout the game but could not offer his usual input going forward, largely due to his team’s poor performance. He was forced off the pitch due to an unfortunate injury right before the 45-minute-mark.
Dani Ceballos – 4.0
He did not contribute enough defensively or going forward. Just not good enough from the Spaniard.
Thomas Partey – 6.7
The Ghana international was the only Arsenal player tried hard to make things happen but he needed help.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 5.4
The Gabonese wide man struggled to throughout the match and was later replaced by Gabriel Martinelli around the 77-minute-mark.
Martin Odegaard – 5.6
Disappointing night for the Real Madrid loanee who was in the right positions but never got enough of the ball.
Nicolas Pepe – 4.2
Hardly had any sort of influence on the game going forward and was hopeless defending and week on challenges.
Alexandre Lacazette – 5.8
The Frenchman lacked service tonight but kept trying the whole night.
Cedric Soares – 6
The Portuguese defender in for the injured Kieran Tierney right before the half-time whistle and deputised well.
Mohamed Elneny – 5.5
Usual very average midfield performance from the Egyptian.
Gabriel Martinelli – 5.7
The 19-year-old came on for Aubameyang around the 77-minute-mark but the game was lost and had gone stale.
