Arsenal face Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday, just over a year after the same opponent knocked the Gunners out of last season’s competition.
And Mikel Arteta has been speaking to the media about playing the Greek side again. Here’s what he had to say …
On Emile Smith Rowe
“He’s close to retuning he’s going to have a full session today to see if he’s going to be involved tomorrow and we’ll see where we are with him.”
On fixture congestion
“We have a massive week with the next four games that we have in a short period. The main game is tomorrow and we have to focus on that.
On losing to Olympiacos last season
“Well obviously it was a really tough one to swallow. The way it happened at the end was really cruel. Obviously we have some feeling towards that team.”
On if Arsenal have improved since then
“I think we are a better team than last year. Looking back at the way we played and the way we are playing now we’ve come a long way.”
On a reunion with Sokratis
“It’s going to be good to see Papa, he’s such a good character. He’s liked and loved by everybody here.”
