AS Monaco target summer move for Alexandre Lacazette

AS Monaco are targeting a summer move for Alexandre Lacazette amid his recent struggles to start, according to a report.

The Mirror report that Alexandre Lacazette has emerged as a summer target for Monaco. The striker will only have a year left on his deal this summer, which has alerted various European clubs to his availability.

As well as the expiring contract, Lacazette also isn’t starting regularly at the moment. He hasn’t started any of the last four games in all competitions, ever since his early substitution against Aston Villa three weeks ago.

The 29-year-old came off the bench against Manchester City and Benfica, but it’s unlikely he’ll be willing to settle for that role as a substitute for the rest of the peak years of his career.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang extending, and Gabriel Martinelli coming up behind him, it doesn’t look likely Lacazette will reclaim that starting role very easily.

Arsenal reportedly aren’t keen to let him enter his final year. They’ll either push to sell or to extend his contract. With the interest in him from abroad and Arteta’s comments that they’ll hold contract talks in the summer, it’s not clear which way it’ll go.
