Arsenal add 4 players to Premier League squad

Arsenal submitted their updated Premier League squad list this week, with a few new additions after the January transfer window.

With the winter window closing earlier this week, all Premier League clubs had to submit their new updated squad lists.

As usual, there are some restrictions, with only 17 over-21 non-homegrown players allowed in the 25-man squad. Fortunately, Arsenal actually managed to get enough players off the books in January to make this happen without excluding anyone.

Arsenal had to leave Runar Alex Runarsson out of the Europa League squad because they needed space for Gabriel Martinelli, who is ineligible for the u21 list as he’s been at Arsenal for less than two years.

The Premier League don’t have that same restriction, however, so Martinelli was free to join the u21 list and open up a space.

For the same reason, January signing Omar Rekik wasn’t on the Europa League u21 list, but he is on the Premier League u21 list.

Arsenal also added Martin Odegaard, Mat Ryan, and Dejan Iliev to the main-squad list. Iliev returned from loan in January and is homegrown, so he’s back in.

Dropping off the main-squad list are Sead Kolasinac, Matt Macey, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Shkodran Mustafi.

Below are the new lists in full. You may notice quite a few on-loan players in the u21 list, but that’s just because there’s no downside to including them.

The u21 list has unlimited spaces anyway.
