A very bad day at the office for Arsenal. Not only the team looked sluggish after the international break but everything seemed to go against us, starting with an injury to Coquelin early in the first half.
It can only be described as sod’s law as his replacement Arteta gave away a free kick which led to their equalizer. As that wasn’t bad enough he scored an own goal for their winner and rub salt into his and our wounds, he went off injured soon after the restart.
This wasn’t the end of sequence of incredible events of bad luck and terrible misses as Campbell fluffed a sitter from 6 yards and Cazorla lost his footing as he took our penalty to sky it high over the bar.
WBA had only 1 shot on target (from a set play) and scored 2 goals and only 27% possession.
Footballing gods definitely deserted us in this game but that should not be used as an excuse as most of our players performed below par apart from Alexis.
Ozil still managed an assist for Giroud’s goal, his 11th assist of the season that means he now on a 7 game assist streak in the League and just one assist away from catching Lionel Messi as the player with the most assists since the 2008/2009 season.
