Although our big players looked a bit off color, there were still some positives to take from the first half; Campbell started very brightly looking like a player who was determined to take his last chance saloon opportunity. Scoring his first goal for Arsenal was the icing on the cake. Our defense looked very well balanced and secure. It was also very good to see this team can dig deep and be resilient when things do not happen.
Without sounding a bit repetitive, once again we witnessed what a big difference a top class goal keeper can make in games like this one. Chec looked very safe and made a couple of important saves at the crucial stage of the game.
Soon after the restart it became obvious that things had started clicking and there was going to be only one winner after Giroud put us ahead with his 65th goal (and 2000th goal scored under Wenger) in 150 appearances for Arsenal . He has the best goal to minutes ratio in the Premiership. Not bad for our supposedly “not good enough” front-man.
