2 – 0 to the Arsenal, 2 – 0 to the Arsenal! Really I should be writing 6 – 0 to the Arsenal and that would have been no exaggeration. That is how wasteful we were in front of the goal.
Sad thing is the biggest culprit was our main striker on the day; Walcott. He missed another chance – as well as many sitters – to stake his claim to be the Arsenal’s no1 striker. Scoring our opening goal is not going to save Walcott from the criticism he will get from the World of football.
Apart from the finishing, Arsenal were excellent in every department. Bellerin is fast becoming an outstanding right back and he was the man of the match for me. He is rapid (obviously), good on the ball, defends and attacks very well, and his final ball is best I have seen for a long while for an Arsenal right back.
Gabriel was very impressive partnering Koscielny, dare I say Mertesacker may have his work cut out getting his place in the team back when he is fit.
I like Coquelin and Cazorla midfield duo; former with his tigerish play and the other with his silky skills and ball distribution makes a very decent central midfield partnership. Ozil does what he does and some people don’t realize how important he is to our team. The closest I can get to describe him as a player is that he is like oil in a car engine, makes everything tick so smoothly.
With Sanchez recovering his form, it was not a big surprise that 2 – 0 defeat flattered Stoke.
